Learning Robots in Taiwan: a Franco-Taiwanese gateway to educational AI
From May 5 to 11, 2025, Learning Robots had the honor of taking part in an exceptional French delegation sent to Taiwan, on the initiative of theDataIA Paris-Saclay Institute and the French Office in Taipei. The aim was to build bridges between scientific, academic and industrial institutions in both countries, around strategic issues such as semiconductors, but also - and above all for us - artificial intelligence in the service of education.
A mission based on humanist values
Spearheaded by leading figures such as Sylvie Retailleau (former Minister of Higher Education and Research) and Frédéric Pascal (Vice-President of AI at Université Paris-Saclay), this mission aimed to combine technological excellence with a humanistic vision of AI. The presence of François Taddei, founder of the Learning Planet Institute, bears witness to this: it's not just a question of innovating, but of doing so in the service of human beings and shared knowledge.
It was in this spirit that Learning Robots, through its founder Thomas Deneux, was invited to present its vision of a pedagogical, explainable and engaging AI, at the crossroads of robotics and active learning.

A striking AI workshop at the Lycée International Français de Taipei
The highlight of this week of meetings was an immersive workshop on artificial intelligence on May 5, 2025, at the Lycée International Français de Taipei (LIFT).
Conceived as a powerful educational experience, the workshop brought together 12 students around our AlphAI robot, to explore first-hand how a machine learning algorithm works. After an introduction to the fundamentals of AI, participants trained their own neural network to enable the robot to follow a line on the ground... before engaging in a fun and strategic robot race, where mastery of the concepts learned made all the difference!
The workshop was attended by some 15 personalities, including Sylvie Retailleau, Frédéric Pascal, Taiwanese education officials, Franck Paris (Director of the French Office in Taipei) and Josué Serres. Taiwanese television was also present, giving French-style educational AI a high profile in the international media.

A mission in line with our raison d'être
At Learning Robots, our mission is clear: to democratize artificial intelligence through hands-on experience, and enable everyone - students, teachers and citizens alike - to understand, manipulate and question the algorithms that shape the digital world.
This mission to Taiwan is a wonderful recognition of our work, but also a gas pedal of cooperation:
- Promising collaboration with Professor Ting-Chia Hsu of the National Taiwan Normal University,
- First contacts with commercial partners for the distribution of our AlphAI solution in Taiwan,
- Validation of an exportable teaching model adapted to international challenges.
Thanks
Our warmest thanks to :
- The DataIA Paris-Saclay Institute for its initiative,
- The French Office in Taipei, especially Franck Paris and Josué Serres, for their welcome and logistical support,
- Sylvie Retailleau and Frédéric Pascal for their trust and commitment to humanist AI,
- The teams at the Lycée International Français de Taipei, for their enthusiasm and commitment,
- And of course, the students, who made the workshop as lively as it was stimulating.

This adventure has only just begun. What if we were to train together the next generation of citizens capable of acting on AI rather than being subjected to it?
